Vista Pacifica Convalescent in Jurupa Valley wins AHCA Gold Quality Award
Fourth facility in California to receive prestigious honor for quality care
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The California Association of Health Facilities (CAHF) announced that Vista Pacifica Convalescent in Jurupa Valley was recognized with the 2019 Gold – Excellence in Quality Award by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). The award is the final of three distinct levels possible through the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program, which recognizes nursing centers and assisted living organizations nationally that serve as models of excellence in providing high-quality care.
“This year’s recipient was among five nationwide to receive the 2019 Gold – Excellence in Quality Award. Since the program’s inception in 1996, AHCA/NCAL has recognized only 38 organizations—excluding this year’s recipients—with awards at the Gold level.
“This national honor validates the dedication of long term care employees at Vista Pacifica to deliver the best possible treatment and care to the elderly and those suffering from with behavioral health issues,” said Craig Cornett, CAHF CEO/President. “It’s gratifying that their important work is getting the recognition it deserves.”
Vista Pacifica Convalescent is a 24-hour skilled nursing facility specializing in providing psychiatric services to residents with secondary diagnoses of mental illness. The 49-bed facility features a safe and secure environment with an enclosed patio, providing residents with a home-like setting.
Vista Pacifica Convalescent and Vista Pacifica Center is part of Vista Pacifica Enterprises, founded by the late Dr. Al and Ruth Braswell. Their daughter Cheryl Jumonville continues the legacy created by her family more than 40 years ago.
Other AHCA gold award recipients in California include Edgemoor DP SNF, Santee (2017), Pacific Coast Manor in Capitola (2015) and Stonebrook Healthcare in Concord (2014).
Based on the core values and criteria of the nationally recognized Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program challenges member providers to achieve performance excellence through three progressive levels—Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The Gold – Excellence in Quality Award is the most prestigious of the program.
At this level, recipients have invested multiple years in mastering and applying the rigorous quality improvement standards of the Baldrige Criteria to achieve superior results in leadership, strategic planning, customer and workforce focus, and operations and knowledge management.
The awards were presented during AHCA/NCAL’s 70th Convention & Expo in Orlando, Florida, October 13-16, 2019.
